More Airbrush

I've spent some more time with my airbrush and I'm starting to get the hang of it again. Today I have been trying 2 different things of airbrushing. The first one was just colouring in and then some highlights when the second one was a complete airbrush over. I had a talk to some of my studio colleagues who gave me some good advice. At the moment I like the second one best but feel that it might become too much of a drawing. I think it will take some more practice before I will get the result I'm going for.

Again sorry for the poor picture quality, wish my phone could do better.

Airbrush

Here's another update from my phone so I hope the pictures turn out ok. I've been trying out some more airbrush on my screenprints aswell as finished the airbrushing on the big billboard poster. I like the front part of the billboard best now as it is covering enough to see that it is not just a color fill but not too much so that it becomes more of a drawing (like I did in the beginning on the back af the car).
I have also been in touch with a dutch company to see if I can get a billboard in Nijmegen during my graduation show period. I will have to check back with them to see how much they are willing to help me out costwise so I can see if I will be able to afford all of this. It was a very positive phonecall so I hope we can work something out (more on that next week I hope).

Group Crit

Had another group crit led by Kenny today. I had prepared some questions about my work and told some more about it as well. I think it went pretty wel and I got some good comments. Unfortunately they seemed to be more into the tryouts I wasn't into as much and vica versa. Not sure what I am going to do with this though. I think I will just keep on working the way I was this week and see what comes of it. I was also quite surprised by getting the feeling that I was talking a bit too much, hope this doesn't become a problem.

Last weekend I went to Glasgow where I met up with someone Kenny introduced me to (Jack). We drove around through Glasgow and the country side where he showed me some classic cars. I took lot's of pictures and we swapt lot's of story's. Jack is about my age and we shared some thoughts about being from a younger generation and liking classic cars. It was a great meat and I hope to go hang out with him in Glasgow again.

Latest screenprints

I know that the pictures arn't the best quality ever, but I really wanted to show you the latest editions to my car series. After having some trouble with printing them on wednesday I was very nervous about trying again today. Luckily everything that went wrong on wednesday went perfect today ( apart from the fact that I try not to create a perfect print offcourse).

I will make a small repost after I got the chance to make some better quality pictures, but since I'm quite busy I can't tell you when that will be.

More color

Just a small update since its quite late and I have to get up early again tomorrow.
Today I did a lot of stuff again but the best part was getting to "play" around with my arbrush again. I thought the differences between the back and front of the car weren't big enough so I decided to put some more work in it. Here's a picture of the process. I'm pretty sure I will do the whole car that way so it becomes more of a drawing but I want to wait untill after the group crit on Monday.

I'm also not sure if I should darken the car out since it is becomming a bit bright at the moment.

Color

The semester only just started but and I hit the ground running.
Today I got the chance to try out my airbrush compressor (I arranged that my parents brought it to Londen where my sister lives over the break, and since I couldn't make it my classmate William was kind enough to take it from there to Edinburgh), I had been talking to my tutor Kenny about using some color in my big billboard prints and since the assesements are over I can use my big billboard for trying out. It has been a while since I used my airbrush but it felt very nice. As you can see in the picture the back of the car has a bit more colour in it and looks a bit more as if it is being drawed on, while the front is more colloured in. We have a group crit on monday and I am planning to ask the other students which way they feel is better (doesn't mean I will just do what others tell me but hey feedback can be usefull).

in the afternoon I had a screen printing slot signed out and started to make some new prints. I am not sure wheater all where succesfull so I am planning on doing some more this friday.

A segment from my Billboard print with the first airbrush layer over it. I might work a bit more on the rear of the car to make the coloring differences a bit more obvious for the monday crit.

This is one of the extra screen prints from my latest series which I used to try out some more coloring by airbrush.

And a little action shot of the screen print session in the afternoon, completed print pictures coming soon, but if you look closely you can already see a little sneak preview on the screen.

First day of the last semester

Even though I have been at the college last week today was the real first day of the semester. And what a day it was, I have been checking with multiple departments signing up for a new screenprinting slot later this week (which means more screenprints soon), and found out about the usage of a 3d printer. Since I want to get as much expierience as possible during this MFA I decided to give 3d printing a try aswell. I think it will be very handy for prototyping which I can then make a mould of and cast (perhaps more on that later).

The most important part of the day however was the feedback tutorial I had with Kenny today. I have been quite nervous about this since it was goin to determine what I would be doing for my graduation show.
Luckily the feedback was very possitive and we discussed more about how to take it from here instead of what I did or didn't do. The important thing is to keep going and don't think that I can take it easy now because this last semester went well. Kenny then helped me writing an e-mail to a billboard company for my final project. I am trying to find out wheater it is possible to get my work shown on billboards in the city instead of just making the one billboard and putting it in the show. I am very happy he helped me with this since I don't really know that well how to address a company like that.

If this is an example of how the rest of the semester will go I can say it's going to be a productive one.

Sorry no pictures yet but you can expect some soon.

New Webstore!

What already? Yes!

After spending the last couple of days working on my webstore and researching other webstore software (I intalled 4 different ones and tried them all out), I finaly decided to go with the Opencart one. If you visited my first webstore you will definately see the difference between the old and the new one and I hope you will agree with me that the new one looks way more proffesional. It is also easier to maintain and update. The link for my new webstore is: Http://www.sanderschoonbeek.com/Store
